PiP is supported by the Institute for Parliamentary Research (IParl), Berlin, and SYRI, Prague.

PiP analyses how parliaments have responded to the pandemic and how this has affected their role in political systems. 43 researchers from around the world contributed to PiP and provided detailed information on 33 national parliaments in democracies as well as in hybrid and authoritarian regimes. The data was collected "live" during the pandemic situation in three observation periods from February 2020 to July 2021. This results in a unique data set with 10,000 data points.

The aim of the project is to understand and explain parliamentary behaviour in the pandemic situation and to draw lessons for other crises as well as for the "normal" situation. A first comprehensive study will be published in 2024 in the form of an anthology, with further publications to follow. The project results will be presented and discussed at several international and national conferences.

If you are interested in our research collaboration, if you would like to join our network or if you would like to pass on information, please contact us at PiP@iparl.de.

Further information and the latest news about PiP can be found here.

IParl-Projekt „Parliaments in the Pandemic (PiP)” Parliaments in the Pandemic (PiP) ist ein internationales, kollaboratives Forschungsprojekt, das vom Research Committee of Legislative Specialists (RC 08) der International Political Science Association (IPSA) organisiert wird.
