Prof. Dr. Oskar Niedermayer

Oskar Niedermayer has been a professor at the Freie Universität Berlin, Otto-Suhr-Institute for Political Science, from 1993 to 2017. He also chaired the Otto-Stammer-Centrum for Empirical Political Sociology. He is a member of the board of trustees at the Institute of German and International Party Law and Party Research. From 1990 to 2015 he was a spokesperson of the German Political Science Association’s Working Group for Party Research. His research deals with parties and party systems as well as political sociology at all levels of political systems. He was awarded the Otto-Kirchheimer-Preis 2017 for his outstanding achievements in party research.
